From Vision to Legacy
This year marks a significant milestone for Community Bank Neerim District, as it celebrates 25 years of service, growth, and commitment to the local community. Since opening its doors on 17 July 2000, the bank has remained steadfast in its mission to support the district, demonstrating that financial success and community wellbeing go hand in hand.
The bank’s journey began as an ambitious idea—one that was made possible through the dedication and generosity of the local community. A total of $379,025 was raised in pledges, turning the vision of a community-driven bank into a reality. “I regard my time raising the funds and working on setting up the Neerim District Bendigo Bank as the most rewarding of my career. Jim Cunliffe will always be one of the great men to have worked with. Being the inaugural chairman and holding that role for over a decade was equally fulfilling. I couldn’t be prouder than to have been a part of returning banking services to the district and distributing profits approaching $1 million to local service group,” Paul Bright, founding member of the bank, said.
Over the years, this commitment has only strengthened, with 80% of the bank’s profits reinvested back into the community. “The Community Bank Neerim District has accomplished so much over the past 25 years. From humble beginnings, we have grown into an institution that not only provides essential financial services but also plays a crucial role in strengthening our district. Our success proves that when a community works together, we can achieve so much more,” Clive Patrickson, Chair of Neerim District Community Enterprise who run the Community Bank Neerim District, said.
Through its ongoing contributions, Community Bank Neerim District has provided assistance and support to vital local services, ensuring that those in need receive the help they deserve. Whether funding educational programs, backing healthcare initiatives, or supporting local community groups, the bank’s dedication to fostering a thriving and resilient Neerim District has remained unwavering.
“Food Relief Neerim District Inc has had a long association with Neerim District Community Enterprise/ Community Bank Neerim District. The relationship with the bank, board and staff has been incredibly important to us and we feel that we would not be where we are today and in the future without that relationship and support to do what we do for the community,” Sue Richardson, Secretary Food Relief Neerim District, said.
As the bank looks to the future, it remains committed to its founding principles—giving back, supporting those who need it most, and building a stronger, more connected district. With a firm belief in the power of collective action, Community Bank Neerim District is set to continue its legacy of positive change for years to come.
“The true wealth of a Community Bank is in the lasting impact it leaves on the community as a whole. The Community Bank’s unique position enables it to support growth whilst building a future where everyone in the community thrives,” Samantha Bullen, Bank Manager Community Bank Neerim District, said.
The bank celebrated this incredible milestone with a grants and anniversary ceremony on Saturday, 15 March 2025. A total of $93,281.34 went to the following recipients:
