Beth Delzoppo Scholarship applications now open
The Beth Delzoppo Scholarship provided by the Community Bank Neerim District provides an exciting opportunity for rural students to gain the financial support they need to further their education.
The scholarship program aims to assist academically motivated students from Neerim District incl. Noojee, Jindivick, Buln Buln, Neerim South, Neerim East, Neerim North and Rokeby who have been offered a place at an Australian University, TAFE Institute or College. Eligible applicants need to enter their first year of tertiary study and are experiencing challenging circumstances.
For rural students, the journey to higher education often comes with unique challenges. Distance from educational institutions, additional living expenses, and limited access to resources can make it harder to pursue studies.
Duncan Bain received the scholarship in 2024 and is now studying at Deakin University, doing a bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science. “This scholarship grants me the ability to fund my own schooling and become more independent as a new student at a university,” Duncan said.
Scholarships can help cover the cost of tuition fees, textbooks, accommodation, and even travel expenses. This reduces the financial burden on students and their families, allowing them to focus more on their studies.
It also means less debt to pay off after graduation, allowing for more freedom when starting a career.
“Receiving a scholarship is more than just financial aid; it’s recognition of a student’s achievements and potential. We’re very proud to be able to support our students from the Neerim District and help them achieve their dreams,” Clive Patrickson, Chair of Neerim District Community Enterprise who run the Community Bank Neerim District, said.
